https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2019/05/named-virgin-medias-possible-1gbps-broadband-uk-launch-cities.htmlSeveral credible sources have informed ISPreview.co.uk that cable ISP Virgin Media’s future “Gigabit Cities” rollout, which will mark their first major UK activation of the new DOCSIS 3.1 network upgrade, seems likely to be expanded with 3-5 UK cities now in the frame for launch around 2019/20.
It seems finally DOCSIS 3.1 will be making its appearance soon with 3 cities named (Manchester, Reading, Southampton), with 2 more speculated to be added soon after (Basingstoke, Bracknell).
Also good news is a new hub will be on the way too, hub 4 wireless router. Hopefully it'll fix all the issues that the hub 3 had.
This is good news overall as I think it ramps up the competition for the next generation of high speed broadband.
