Tom’s formal arrival
« on: May 22, 2019, 12:01:20 AM »

Tom has become a formal member of the family. Talking to his owners, my wife found out that from time to time Tom has gone back down the hill to his old home for a day or so. While there though, the other cats spit at him. Same as here then really. And so he comes back. Anyway, we have agreed that he is officially here. When we took him to the vets’ recently, and told them who Tom was, they wouldn’t ‘tell us anything about him’ because of ‘patient confidentiality’. Lost for words really.

I can see why (if patient confidentiality rules apply) they wouldn't let you see his records - but under the same rules did they show them to Tom himself and answer any questions he had?

Exactly. I’m sure Tom wouldn’t object. I’m just hoping someone clumsily misspoke and meant ‘customer’ rather than ‘patient’.

I can understand that . . .

Ideally you need a signed document, from his old home down the hill, stating that you now share in his welfare and well-being, etc.

@burakkucat - which is what we have all now agreed to do at the vet’s.

Meanwhile, Tom spent the whole day in a box in the downstairs bathroom because the box is on a heated floor. He even ignored the fact that people went into the shower right next to him.
