[Moderator note: This post and those that follow have been split off from the News Article "Virgin Media increasing speeds, and DOCSIS 3.1 on the horizon".]

If it was 500/50 then I join...but if it 500/35 nah!  :P ;D

Virgin Media got upload with 10:1 today with 350/35 so could be soon be upgraded to 500/50, if that happen, no g.fast for me 217/30 will switch to virgin media 500/50.

If it's a new tier, given your complaints about the cost of products and how much of a rip off they are elsewhere, I'm not sure you'll be wanting to pay for it. £50+ per month can be expected and they may even make you pay something like list price.

I do not believe it'll be 50Mb upload on the 500 tier either.

Either way the idea that all else being equal someone obsessed with broadband speed would buy 220/30 rather than 500/35, more like 550/36.5, is laughable.

For the curious this has gone to the vast majority of the network. Other tiers are worth watching.

Business services have not changed, and it's not on the radar for them to. Second class cable customers as ever :)

EDIT: two gigabit cities is probably pessimistic. No, Max, Telford isn't one of them.

G.fast will never go faster! Slower than VDSL2

People on 500Mb G.fast services elsewhere and 300Mb here are likely to disagree.

GEA Test Estimated Line Length In Metres: 253.1 (will be very poor in g.fast estimated speed than VDSL2)

The world doesn't begin and end at your home and you're the one who claimed 217/30 was your own estimate. Although you did also claim to have contacted Openreach as you didn't like an earlier estimate and had them 'correct' it to say 330/50...

Either way it can and does deliver 500Mb+ depending on deployment method with a gigabit+ in progress so it certainly can be faster than VDSL even if in some cases it isn't.

Are these any good?

https://www.ebuyer.com/671790-tp-link-archer-c9-ac1900-wireless-dual-band-gigabit-router-archer-c9

For VM 350 / 35 as I rather want to use Hub 3 in modem mode only and use my own router.

As it has an appropriately rated EWAN port [10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T] I will tentatively say "Yes, I think it should work". As for usage with the service you will be having installed, I am unable to say.

I rather to have virgin media 385/38 rather than openreach upcoming g.fast 217/30 as VM price will be cheaper than g.fast overall and no DLM involved.

As for usage, it will be heavy soon because my daughter boyfriend come to live with us he want to use xbox, my daughter want to use netflix and I use sky nowtv for Sky Altantic Game of Thrones

I'm sure you will keep us fully updated as to how you find the service.

Didn't you go with VM about a year or so ago, then switch back to DSL because you said the service was unreliable?
But good luck this time anyhow :)
