So at 3am an update is pushed out to the Zen supplied Fritz box. That causes all the lights on the box to start flashing (the LEDS on the Fritz box are brighter than any other router I've had). That triggers the PIR detector in the same room and sets off our burglar alarm!

Well that's an odd one, last time I got woke up by technology it was the NHS Covid app informing me at 6am on a Sunday that we'd changed tier level - it never informed me again!

I never even opened my Zen supplied Fritz box - kept with my trusty HG612 & VMG8924 although that is coupled with a Netgear ProSafe managed switch now.

It's a very different router interface to any I've had before, but I'm quite impressed.

It's difficult to tell when you sync at 79999 anyway, but I think it's showing a marginally higher noise margin than the VMG8924-B10A I was using with AAISP.

I mainly like having the separate modem to keep the line up during the inevitable WiFi instability that the Zyxel exhibits from time to time.

Check out LightDims if you want to dull the brightness of the LED's. They're transparent smoked stickers that you can cover LED's with.
