Hi team

I'm seeking the advice our you seasoned veterans. I've moved into a new build Persimmon home and have had their Fibrenest ISP (FTTP) for free. Our free contract was due to run out in June so I was speaking to BT. OR have called me today saying they can't provide service as Persimmon have the exclusive for an indeterminate period of time. I've got nothing in writing from Persimmons or Fibrenest about this. Where do I go from here? Fibrenest are phenomenally expensive

Get everything you know documented, in chronological order, and then pay a visit to your nearest Citizen's Advice Bureau.

The FibreNest FTTP is owned by Persimmon.

It's nothing to do with OpenReach so none of the ISP's who sell OpenReach products (BT, Sky, Talktalk etc) would be able to provide you any service over the fibre.

This suggests there's an OpenReach copper line at the property.

If Sky was available to you then any ISP who uses OpenReach's network would have been available.
If an order could be placed with Sky then it could be placed with anyone else.

Someone is telling porkies or confusion has arisen somewhere.

What does the BT Broadband Availability Checker show you?

If there is an OpenReach line available then is very likely to be ADSL only

Fibrenest are phenomenally expensive

Really? Looking at their website:

20/2 Mbps = £25 per month
125/10 = £35 pm
250/25 = £40 pm
500/50 = £45 pm

they're even planning to launch a cheap as chips 10 Mb/s for £13 per month. If Openreach had installed FTTP in your home then the cheapest entry level FTTP service on BT Retail (55/10) costs around £30 per month and their highest 330/50 £60+ per month. So i would say Fibrenest's prices are very competitive. Unless you're not happy with the quality of service from Fibrenest eg poor support, slow peak time speeds etc?

Well this is in the middle of their home page, doesnt seem that expensive, granted its a low speed tho.

In response to customer demand, we are introducing a new entry level 10Mb package for just £13 per month!

This will be available for purchasing online soon.

125mbit package for about the same price as 80/20 from sky.

Prices seem fine.

I will say I dont like the 10:1 download/upload ratio tho.
