Would anyone be kind enough to take a look at my stats?
« on: March 03, 2019, 04:50:11 PM »

I don't have any problems on my line that I'm aware of but of course I'm curious about whether or not my stats tell another story?

I'm using DSL stats with a Zyxel VMG8924 as bridged modem and Asus RT-AC68U as router. John Lewis broadband. I have a Huawei cabinet of some kind.

I have read the information on this site in the Broadband > Line Stats section, but its still not clear to me whether my stats are good or bad. I fear I lack the experience/grey cells required to interpret the stats myself  ???

I have attached my FEC errors graph plus here are the line stats:

Very good line by the look of the limited stats.  You are connected at the maximum speed possible.  My only two observations are you are interleaved which may indicate a new connection or recent change of product (this usually gets removed after a few days) and for your line attenuation (ie rough line length) I would have expected a slower connection so if it is a new cabinet / low take up you may get hit by some crosstalk at some point.

Got it, thanks for that. I've been with John Lewis broadband and same product for a few months but I just replaced the modem yesterday. Would that explain the interleaving?

You've got G.INP (retransmission) rather than the old style interleaving. Yes there's a tiny interleaving level that is used with G.INP on Huawei cabinets.

I wouldn't get too obsessed with the stats I used to check mine every 5 minutes but now I just try to force myself to ignore them and just look at them at most 1 time a day to ensure that the RPi is still working, running dslstats and collecting data just in case.

I may have to submit to a more experienced member but the main indicator for the removal of interleave is the number of ES (errored seconds) per day these have to be really (REALLY) low.  Unless you are a pro gamer and need ultra low pings I would leave everything as it is and forget it.

FEC (forward error corrections) are errors that have been corrected so they are no longee errors this is generally good so unless you are getting hundreds of thousands of these they should have no impact on your line.

Any there it is :)

As I am stuck on an ECI cab with no Ginp or 3db the Interleave depth of 16 and inp level of 55 seemed to point to an interleaved connection I didn't realise that was normal operation for a ginped line.
