Javascript

(1/1)

Weaver:
Some websites have obnoxious javascript, I’m thinking about anti-adblocker tests. I am using Safari on my iPad and I just defeat the hated code by turning javascript off in settings. But going into settings turning it off and then having to remember to turn it back on is a bit of a pain. I wish Safari had a list of urls for which javascript could be enabled or disabled. Also I wish there were a quick way of turning javascript off / on globally. I don’t suppose there are any tools / ad-ons that can do this?

johnson:
There are extensions or add-ons for desktop and other mobile OS browsers, but as far as I know settings - safari - advanced - javascript off is your best/only option on iOS using safari... could be wrong.

I have no experience using it but the "brave" browser seems to offer script blocking (as well as ads and other tracking protection) and has an iOS version. Based on chromium and seems to have good intentions, but I wouldn't start doing my online banking using it just yet.

Edit: Ok, not chromium based on iOS, but WKWebView:

Am trying the Brave browser right now. It does seem very snappy. Performance is strong.

johnson:
Just trying it on my ageing android tablet, certainly is fast! Got the individual site script blocking with 2 taps as well... have not tried it with a paywall or ad-block nag site yet though.
