To get the supervisor password you need to telnet in (as admin) and then capture the output of the dumpmdm command - details are on page 3 of this topic - https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19186.30.html
 :)
I can't get my brain working on it, As administrator, am I right to log in 192.168.1.1 as admin and chosen/default password? All that happens is that the cursor is inactive as the password is input. Telnet is enabled.

What should I be doing? :-\

You should get a '>' prompt after logging in (as admin) where you can then issue the dumpmdm command.
I assume you're not trying to telnet in at the same time as dslstats, as it may not allow two sessions to run concurrently?

If you mean nothing appears on the screen when entering the password in telnet you will not see any characters - just type your password and press enter.

I've got the output of dumpmdm on screen, and followed on with Windows button and R and telnet. There I entered
Code: [Select]
set logfile filename as some site advised. Is that right procedure? I had created a folder, in documents for the files. :-\

Unfortunately the telnet window cuts off much of the dumpmdm command.

If you are using the windows Telnet client, do the following.

Open Start Menu
Type Telnet
Click "Open as Administrator"

In the Telnet window type the following:
set logfile C:\dumpmdm.txt

It should then say "Client logging on"
Then type:
open 192.168.1.1

It will open a new Window asking for username, type:
admin
then type your  password in the next box

It will then show:
>

Then type:
dumpmdm

It should then record everything to to a file named telnet.txt

Close the telnet window.

The file is saved to C:\dumpmdm.txt
Located in "This PC" then "Local Disk (C:)"

Simply search the file for the word supervisor, and you have the password.

At last the supervisor password has been found and listed with all Zyxel info.
Next is to remove traces of John Lewis broadband: if I an figure it out.

Is it as simple as changing
Code: [Select]
<Username>johnlewissetup@john-lewis.com</Username>
<Password>g0g0g0g0</Password>

The only bit of the John Lewis setup I'd be particularly wanting to get rid of is the TR069 settings so it can't 'phone home' and reconfigure itself.
The TR069 menu is available when you log in as supervisor and you can basically just turn it off.
That username and password you've found are probably for exactly that.

TR069 is now showing as disabled in maintenance dropdown list.

Is there anything more before I try a firmware update? IIRC someone said the latest wasn't to be recommended. What would be? Please!

The concern with the latest version (V28) is that it stops you using dumpmdm as the admin user, but as you now have the supervisor password that shouldn't be an issue.
My 8924 is running V21 (oddly only one version before V28!!) quite happily and I do plan to upgrade at some point - just haven't got around to it yet. ::)
If you don't like V28 for some reason there's nothing to stop you from loading an older version again.

There are firmware revisions between 21 and 28 according to the changelogs, but they don't appear on the Zyxel FTP server.  I assume they were classed as beta versions.

Has anyone seen my signature, it seems to have disappeared, along with Openreach turning on G.INP on ECI cabinets ever again.

Good. :)

Now log into the GUI as supervisor and use the password you have just discovered.
Go to "Maintenance --> Configuration" and select the "ROM-D" tab. There should be a "Clean" button. Left click on it.
Go to "Maintenance --> Reboot" and left click on the "Reboot" button.

(The last three lines are based upon what I see with my VMG1312-B10A. There may be slight differences for your device. So it might be worthwhile looking to see "what's what" first and then checking with j0hn for what he advises.)

I've been guiding him using my 1312-b10a  :D
My 8924 is in a box somewhere.

I'd follow your advise, it's exactly what I would do.
