A quick question - do you have two ethernet cables? If so you should be able to be online via the Plusnet router which from memory should use 192.168.1.254 and plug in the Zyxel at the same time for config purposes as that uses 192.168.1.1  -which means you should have access to the internet while resolving your settings issues

I do, so can link the two. What socket on each router do I use, please? Both have WAN sockets.

Another possibility may be to access the internet (this forum) from the iPad via the Plusnet router, and connect the desktop to the Zyxel so that you can configure that router off-line. It's what I did whilst setting up a HG612 using the copious guidance elsewhere on this forum.

Has the OP debranded this John Lewis router? It may be trying to connect as a JL user.

Can you go to System Monitor > xDSL Statistics and paste the results here.

@banger
Are you saying the router could be locked? It seems to have accepted my entries in the broadband section, but one odd thing is that my ISP log in password is covered immediately with a long line of asterisks, and the reveal radio button is inactive.
@j0hn For tomorrow.

If it is a JL router it will keep changing things by TR-069 back to JL settings. What made me think was the trouble you were having with login password not sticking.

I've just checked my 8924 and you can't reveal the password - you either get a line of dots when you enter it or a line of asterisks when you click the unmask button.

@banger - I get what you are saying, but I don't believe these 'phone home' that often, and even if it did I'm pretty sure it would only update if there was a new firmware version to load.

On the matter of TR 069, I can't find the option to disable it.

You have sync, it's just the Plusnet username and password that needs corrected.

It needs to start with your Plusnet username and be in the format username@plusdsl.net

Like renluop@plusdsl.net (or whatever your Plusnet username is).

You then need to enter your Plusnet password in the password box under the username.

Don't worry about it being an ex John Lewis Zyxel.
They work perfectly on Plusnet.
John Lewis use Plusnet after all.

If that fails to work then I would advise doing a full reset on the device.
I would be happy to assist with this.

j0hn I thought, "whaa, of course I'd got everything correct", but I hadn't. I'm probably too old to rely on memory, so it's excruciating embarrassment for Y.T.
Sorry to all for wasting a lot of your time. :( Am I to be drummed out for my stupidly?

Now all is running, are there any further settings I really  should edit prior to backing up the config?

 :yay: Good News!
Don't worry we all have our moments when we're sure we're correct but aren't. I'm just glad it's working now.
If the wireless side is also working as you want then it's probably a good time to back up the config.
Once that's done you may wish to go hunting for the supervisor password, as it's in that account that you'll find the TR069 settings.
You may also wish to consider updating the firmware, but I'd sort out the supervisor bit first as the latest firmware makes it very hard to find the supervisor account.

Congrats :)

I'll fire on my PC later and take some screenshots for you of any minor settings you may wish to tweak (nothing too technical) with a brief explanation of each.

I have a couple of suggestions including enabling Telnet on the WLAN/LAN (under the Remote Management section) to get DslStats working.

When you've done that I'd recommend getting the Supervisor password.
Then you can erase any trace of John Lewis.

I searched and found a thread from early 2017, which now  cannot find again.  :sob: It mentioned the config files and

Code: [Select]
<Privilege>broadband,wireless,homeNetworking,routing,qos,nat,dns,igmpSetting,vlangroup,intfGrp,usb
Service,powerManagement,firewall,macFilter,parentalControl,schedulerRule,ipsecVPN,pptpVPN,log,traf

eMGMT,snmp,time,emailNotification,logSetting,firmwareUpgrade,configuration,reboot,disagnostic</Pri
vilege>
and use to find supervisor password.

If only I could find it or search for the person who posted. I can recall part of the name. Shame about lack of member list.

To get the supervisor password you need to telnet in (as admin) and then capture the output of the dumpmdm command - details are on page 3 of this topic - https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,19186.30.html
