Is this a G.fast pod or something else?
« on: January 13, 2019, 02:39:42 PM »

A couple of weeks ago, an extra pod has appeared on the right side of my local FTTC and phone cabinet. I believe the base cabinet's a Huawei All in One Combined PCP & FTTC unit, it was installed replacing the old PCP when FTTC came to our street.

There's a photo of the cabinet attached - Is this likely to be a G.fast extension pod or something different? I'm curious to see if G.fast is likely to roll out to our side of Edinburgh, it's only in some other areas of the city at the moment.

That just looks like an extension pod. G-fast pods have one or two vents on them depending on manufacturer I believe.

As michty_me has mentioned, that is just a copper expansion cabinet and not a G.Fast pod.

To date, I am not aware of any G.Fast pods being attached to Huawei AIO DSLAM & PCP cabinets.
