The XMG3927-B50A can be found for under £150 brand new here in the UK if you know where to look. :P

Yes, I know I'm not being very helpful. The place I know which is "selling" it isn't doing so officially yet; not listed on the store, unlikely to be stocking it yet - though can order in.

Is it perhaps Andrews and Arnold Ltd? I know they are testing them, but not listed to purchase yet.

Any body got luck in finding an economical gfast modem ?

Any body tried ASUS DSL AC88U. Can’t find any report yet whether it works with BT or in UK for G.fast.

That's what I ended buying. Massive beast, totally overkill, but the only option at the moment.

I spoke to one of the openreach engineers about buying one from him. He said he had loads in his van, but he showed me his tablet with the work order on it, it actually says provide modem yes/no. I offered him £100, but he said he was worried it would come back to him and he'd get in trouble. Can't blame him really, I'd do the same.

@re0

My brand new ZyXEL XMG3927-B50A are coming to my house tomorrow all thanks to Shaun from A&A ISP after pay it by my debit card. But, they told me they will not support to set it up for me for G.fast service unless I order the service from them. But, I told him that I will use this new router for FTTC for now until my contract has expired in October with PN. Then will order G.fast with Zen Internet and will use this new ZyXEL XMG3927-B50A for G.fast.

But until later, I might need you (re0) to help me what the correct settings for FTTC & G.fast like PTM, VPI, VCI, Encapsulation, VLAN ID etc and where to put username / password from ISP for broadband account.

Should be pretty straight forward. If I remember correctly, the device was relaitvely simple to setup.

For stuff like VLAN ID, encapsulation, etc.:
Plusnet
Zen (guide for ZyXEL VMG8924, but the same principle; MTU 1500 bytes possible)

Does it support MTU 1500, like the old HG612 did?

Correct. To date, no one has donated the relevant device to those persons able to do so.
