Tp link vr900 Vs Vodafone router
« on: November 13, 2018, 02:07:58 PM »

Hi I'm new here and hoping to find some answers to why my Vodafone router syncs 2mb difference to my TP link VR900.
I decided to buy the To link because of constant drop outs through the Vodafone router. It's cured the drop outs but syncs slower.
Any ideas to why this would be ???
TIA.

VR900 has Broadcom chipset, so good choice if you have a marginal line.  In my experience with Broadcom  the reported connection speed will be lower than other chipsets (infineon / Trend) but the stability will be better.

On my (very bad) line the maximum Broadcom connection speed will be about 10% less than with a TrendChip but will be 100% stable vs up and down like a yoyo.

So sounds about right!

The Vodafone router is well known for not being able to maintain a stable DSL connection.  Maybe you have highlighted a cause. The choice of router can depend on what make of cabinet you are connected to as described on this web site.

The Vodafone router does have a WAN port which can be connected to a modem.
