How long for DLM to recover following Router fault?

My Netgear D6220 appears to have become poorly and has taken some of my line speed with it :(
This started just over a week ago with a call at work from higher management (the wife ;)). Unfortunately I wasn't at my desk, and by the time I called back she told me that the internet hadn't been working but she had found the router power switch and reset it.
Before she did that apparently all of the router lights were on as usual but no internet and no wireless connections worked. After the reboot all seemed fine.
All then seemed ok for a few days, but then I started getting intermittent very high ES and SES (thousands!) causing DLM to start upping my 3dB SNR to 4 and then to 5.
As this was intermittent I assumed external factors, as each time I looked at the router stats it appeared to be behaving ok.
Then on Thursday I got home from work and checked the router - ES and SES were clocking up quicker than I could refresh the stats - over 20000 SES by the time I pulled the plug! :no:
I put my trusty old Zyxel 8924 on the line and immediately all calmed down, but unfortunately DLM was upset again and put me to 6dB SNR that night.
I can thus only assume my D6220 has gone bad - I don't really want to put it back on the line to check.
This whole episode has cost me about 6Mb of DS speed which is rather annoying to say the least.
How long is it likely to take for DLM to give me this back, or would I be best phoning in a fault and asking for a DLM reset?
I'd be very reluctant to get a reset if I'm honest as G.INP has given me huge gains on this line and I'd be afraid I might not get it back following a DLM reset. If that happened I'd be worse off than I am now. It's a difficult one!

The 8924 has now just rebooted - might have been the storm that's just gone over that did it, but it was a reboot and not a resync.
Down to 39Mb DS now.
Not having much luck with this at the moment.

From my own observations:
For a first offence DLM will usually relent after 24-48hr of stability. 2nd offence = 7 days. 3rd offence 10 days.
Not quite sure when its an accumulation of events over a period of time. :/

You were pretty much spot on!
Two nights ago DLM decided I didn't need G.INP on the US any more (don't know why?), and last night it dropped the DS SNR to 5dB.
Hopefully I'll be back at 3dB before too long.
It's a shame about the Netgear D6220 as I really liked it, but I'm not going to chance it back on the line after this episode. The fact that I've had no further trouble after swapping to the Zyxel makes me quite sure that the Netgear is faulty.
