Possible new FTTC cab though current cab isn't full

(1/1)

Hi

Maybe a bit of an odd one I had a look on roadworks.org like I occasionally do to see if they are doing anything near by. I saw earlier that Openreach look to be maybe installing a new FTTC cab or installing/recovering/renewing something or expanding it. Last year around this time the same roadworks where on the same PCP but they just reshelled it. This is the PCP I am connected too as well so wondered if there is some speed improvement along the way, (I hope for the day they will replace the ECI cab with a Huawei one so I can have G.INP and other benefits, thought I know it will never happen). The cabinet in question is Cabinet 6 on exchange Selby. Unsure fully what they plan to do as the cabinet isn't full according to DSLchecker (see estimates attached), unless they are preparing in case it fills up again, who knows. I have thought it may get expanded but not sure why. There are no planned housing developments that would affect this cab and as mentioned its not full, maybe it may just get expanded but not sure why they would, because Openreach normally do it when the cab fills up from what I've read. Has anyone else seen similar where the cab your connected to gets expanded but isn't full? If its an extra cab I may as well wave goodbye to 20mbps banded and wave hello to sub 15mbps or lower banded due to the extra crosstalk.

My cabinet is the same not full no new large housing developments planned but shows on roadworks.org for 6th to14th November cab 102 Kettering and yes you guessed it it is a ECI

PCP6 SELBY Exchange is being expanded.
In other words you will get a shiny new Huawei cabinet to accompany your ECI cabinet.

They often add 2nd cabinets or High Density expansions before the existing cabinets reach capacity.

Openreach refuse requests to have your line switched from the ECI to Huawei but ordering a 2nd line when the Huawei is live then cancelling the 1st line usually does the trick.

edit: PCP102 KETTERING also getting a shiny new Huawei.

Confirmed, worked for me  ;D

How do we know the new cab is Live and open for Orders. Roadworks say the work was supposed to start yesterday and finish on the Tuesday the 11th but no work has been done today either
