Grey Cabinets - What Are They?
« on: October 19, 2018, 02:51:38 PM »

Not really sure where to post this so apologies if this is the wrong place and mods feel free to move.

I've noticed some grey cabinets, which are about 1/4 the size of the green fibre cabinets, have started to appear every few hundred yards near my house.

I managed to get a quick look inside one, which appeared to be full of cabling similar to fibre boxes. White vans have been on site but they are unbranded.

Am tempted to ask one of the guys working on them but, in the meantime, was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Without knowing where you are geographically it is difficult but here in Thanet the Virgin Media boxes are grey (mostly the odd one being black). When VM install they dig a channel along the pavement or road only about 6 inches wide si if there are new trakcs like that it could be VM or perhaps another fibre company.

Thanks both.... just asked one of the guys working on the boxes and it is VM.

Now, seeing as my existing BT cabinet isn't close, just need to get BT to put a new cabinet next to the VM box as the closest one is ~200m away!
