mrtg config for Speedtouch adsl routers (Chris Hodder?)
« on: June 04, 2008, 04:09:32 PM »

I came across an excellent status page at http://home.chrishodder.co.uk/mrtg/ which is *exactly* what I'm looking for, for my own router

 - I have a Speedtouch 780WL with snmp enabled
 - I have a linux box running mrtg & capturing basic traffic info onto http://planetf1.dyndns.org/mymrtg

I'd like to get hold of those or similar configs.... can anyone oblige?
I think Chris Hodder may have written them?

Hi! Yep those are my scripts! :)

I'm actually running them on a Windows box, but it wouldn't even be a 5 minute job to change the .cmd batch files that generate the results into .sh scripts - since all they do is call a few perl scripts anyway!

I was leaving the Speedtouch (576) version of the scripts up for a while to test for any anomalies, as I'd originally done them for a Netgear DG834G, but everything looks ok.

If you're interested in testing them on the 780WL, drop me a PM and I'll send them across :)

I've copied the scripts I have for the 780 on my Buffalo Linkstation Pro (running linux) to http://planetf1.dyndns.org/mrtg585v7/mrtg780linux.zip (a great NAS box)

However note

* These scripts were last used on a regular ubuntu box, with all the scripts and data under /var/www/mrtg780
* I currently am using a 585v7 (I have a seperate ATA for VoIP)
* I needed to make some updates to run under /opt/var/www/mrtg, but I've only done this for the 585 scripts
* Ack to Chris who the scripts originally came from.
* there's no tidying up etc...

Hi mate

Thanks for this.

Any pointers on what I should do for a 585.

Thanks again

Any pointers on what I should do for a 585.

If you go to that same url I expect you can download the 585 versions of the scripts one by one ie there's a script "getinfo.pl" -- just use the same names as in that zip which I created from my 780 directory. Example - http://planetf1.dyndns.org/mrtg585v7/getinfo.pl

I actually use a 585v7 day in/out so that's what I really run -- direct on the linkstation. (I have the NSLU2 ipkg feed setup, from where I got mrtg & perl)

I can zip up the stuff later if you need it.

Hi Chris!

Could you possibly share the scripts for the 834GT as well? I'd like to try the DG834G v4 which I believe is Broadcom same as the 834GT
