My line is now showing as G.FAST available on the BT Wholesale availability checker but it's not showing up on BT's website.
A phone call to sales also resulted in 'computer says no!', so they won't accept an order.
Is this a common problem & if so who do I need to contact to get an order placed.

I would give it a day or two. BT (amongst other ISPs that use BT Wholesale) will update their system from BT Wholesale (who themselves query Openreach's system). If G.fast has become available within the last day or so then I do not think it is unusual for this to happen.

I could be completely wrong, but if it hasn't been updated within the next couple of days then perhaps someone could advise on how to resolve.

Out of interest, does it show available on the DSL checker when checking tel. number and/or address?

I understand that this is probably not the most helpful response possible or what you would like to hear.

Out of interest what speeds does the checker say you will achieve?

If trying BT Retail, they  are not accepting g.fast for lines which will achieve lower than certain speeds.

That's a good point. I am pretty sure it's min. 100 Mbps at BT retail, though I am also sure that if estimates at the highest end of the range are below 100 Mbps on the DSL checker then it won't show as available. Could be wrong.

There's no speed problem, full 330mbps both clean & impacted,
I can see the box from my window, its less than 100m away.
I used my phone number on the checker.

I would give it a few days, for all the databases to catch-up with one another.

OK, progress has been made.
I rang BT and spoke to a chap in Value (is this the new name for sales?)
I explained the problem & after a few minutes on hold he came back with the following:
YES my line now supports Ultrafast, but NO I can't order it yet.
Apparently it can take up to 2 weeks for the BT Wholesale database to migrate onto the retail version.
He reckons my line's account will be updated within the next few days, at which point I will be able to order it.

Speaking from experience with what happened with my daughters line, the delay between Openreach saying 'ready' and actually being able to order it was due to there not being any backhaul connectivity to the ISP -  ie no cablelink. 

It is the Service Provider's responsibility to purchase the cable-links - these which are what hook up Openreach's equipment to the SP backhaul.

In my daughters case Openreach were saying "Yup all our kit is ready to go" but because they were the first to want to place an order on that particular exchange & BT Wholesale hadn't yet purchased a cablelink.... and then a further delay whilst their ISP purchased a hostlink from BTw ,  the order kept getting rejected/delayed.
