New type of G.Fast pod or something else?
« on: August 18, 2018, 05:51:55 PM »

I assumed it was just a cabinet extension but then I saw the vents.

Is it a new type of Gfast cab or a cabinet extension

I'm not sure where I am supposed to look! I see no cabinet . . .  ::)

I am pretty sure some copper extension pods have vents.

If it is g.fast why is it different from the other ones I’ve seen before?

My hopes for G.fast are pretty low as I live on a crap exchange area.

I haven’t been ECIed again have I?

With the limited knowledge I have on the roll out of G.fast, I would say it doesn't look like a pod I've seen before. Though there is a good chance that I am wrong... again. :(

I thought it was copper too until I saw what it looked like as well as the yellow dot.

I've been looking for another example of it but the other image I posted is the only design I've seen.

That is just a standard Huawei SmartAX MA5603T equipped "fibre twin" cabinet.

You have to scroll right to see the little pod the image is too big.

It's one I've seen plenty of.

To the best of my knowledge, there are two vendors of "G.Fast pods" -- Huawei and Nokia.

(And I can't lay a "paw" on the images I have safely stored, at the moment.)

That is just a copper extension cabinet, not a G.Fast "pod".

I was trying to look for resemblance between the picture the OP posted and the photo of the Nokia pod in a thinkbroadband article (https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7662-gillingham-sees-first-live-g-fast-connection-go-live, the 2nd picture in the article). Of course, the door swings the other way (and can you blame it? :D) but most of what you see on the outside of the pod in the OP's photo seems to match up with the inside.

Regardless of the actuality, any unsuspecting soul considering my response saying that copper extension pods have vents being true can probably safely dismiss it. :)

Is there any images of those cabs with the door shut?

My hopes are getting up too high right now.

I'm like 60% sure its a Nokia G.fast pod.
