When I first heard about You tube Red, I was fed up because I wanted to pay for it and was told that it was not yet available in the UK. Now I did not see the word Red mentioned, perhaps I missed it?

£11.99 is way too much.

Interestingly the family of 6 price is £17.99 . So that would be just nearly £3 each. I think they are trying to turn YT in to a kids only area.

I was watching a guy going through his retro game videos and he had 100+ designated not suitable for advertisers. Unless a video has 1000 views they won't even allow you to contest the decision.

Combine this with them hiring celebrities to star in their YT Red series, totally cutting out their own stars, leads me to think they are a rotten company. I don't like saying that as I do enjoy YT videos. But the lack of respect they have for both the content providers and customers is very strange to me.

Sorry for the little rant  :-[

@chenks, bowdon - I stand corrected. That is slightly more baresblr.

I wonder why the page I was looking at did not mention that figure? Who knows.

Is there a separate 'family' deal which is more expensive perhaps?

I think if they had made it £4.99 per month all in then that would have been a good deal.

I guess they don't have faith that many people will sign up to it.

For some reason YT seem to be obsessed with playing the victim while demonetising peoples videos blaming advertisers, yet have been very reluctant to roll out YT Red/Premium, then overcharging for it.

well no, they have to cover the loss in advertising revenue that they pay out to the creators.
clearly they aren't going to make it loss making.

again, it can't be loss making, they are a business (the creators are a business too). they make money from ad revenue.
if the end-user doesn't want to watch ads then they either use an adblocker or pay the fee for the service that removes the ads but still compensates for the loss in ad revenue.

for some reason certain people seem to be obsessed with thinking that google owe them something for nothing. they don't. they are a business. if said people don't like their practices then use a different service.

Topic locked for no particular reason other than this thread seemed to be attracting the type spam bots which target old threads and where they will try to publish links to premium video streaming.
