Heat
« on: July 26, 2018, 02:46:15 AM »

My wife tells me of terrifying temperatures predicted for England, particularly the South East.

I think the best think for all of my friends down south is to get out of there as quick as you like, drive north over night until you get to Skye or Orkney where it is nice and cool.

My younger brother and his boys are heading up to Scotland next week for a camping trip, don't know where though.

It's not too bad temperature wise though down here.

I think my wife mentioned some scary number like 37C for the south east of england on friday. That may just be nonsense for all I know. I remember some ten years ago that I found the heat quite frightening in Staffordshire when we went down to see Janet’s parents in midsummer and we went for a short walk.

Good idea except today the NB/SB M6 is shut between Blackpool and Lancaster.

I gather the Aussies are getting a lot of amusement over the poor Poms getting in a dither over a mere 35C.  :sun:

S'allright being retired and lazing about in it ..... but try grafting in it !!!

My heart goes out to the foundry-men and kitchen staff of this country, as just renewing a dropwire has me in buckets of sweat.  :) :) :)

I stopped off at the chippy yesterday and the heat was unbearable just waiting for my order, let alone be the other side of the counter for hours on end

The thermometer here in Faversham (mid-Kent) hit 32 degrees today (on the shady side of the house), with 100% humidity.  Luckily I was elsewhere in an air-conditioned office...

[Edit: 100% humidity might not be right - I need to check that!]
