Temperature
« on: July 24, 2018, 01:19:26 PM »

I had connection problems recently, which might be temperature related. On doing a web search it seems temperature effects on modems have been around for some ten years or more. As a precaution  now I switch off the router in the daytime unless actually being used.

This seems successful and contrary to what "everyone knows" it doesn't result in a noticeable drop in speed.
I wonder if anyone else has found that it isn't so ?

Never had any issues with drop outs in warmer weather myself. My SNR sits solid at 3.4dB on the downstream.
Is your dropouts due to the modem/router overheating or a potential faulty intermittent joint going bad with expansion and contraction due to heat cycles?

I mount my HG612 1" off the wall to let the air circulate around it.

A few years ago I fitted a cooling fan to a Netgear DG834 to cure overheating.
