Help with FTTC slowdown after line work
David56:
Hi all first time poster here
I have 2 FTTC Talk Talk lines here
1 business 1 residential
The residential line went dead last week (the overhead line from the pole was broken) Openreach soon came to fix it, but while fixing it at the pole end my business line went on and off a good number of times so now my business FTTC has slowed from around 41000 to a sync of 34998
I use a Draytek 2760 and do not have any Wifi in use
here is the latest info from the Drayek

I had to do come cleaning here this morning so the Drayek was unplugged for about an hour from the line
Before this morning the sync was the same as it is now
I am guessing the line is now banded is that the case?
Trying to talk to support at the ISP is like pulling teeth so any help anyone can give would be great. I would even move ISP if that would get things back on track
Speeds here are slow as it is without this problem. We are in a BDUK FTTC area but we never see great speeds this end of the village
The local council who put in the system in say "no speed issue" we take is as working if you get 21+, wow I got 15 with ADSL2
Oh I forgot to mention I am awaiting a new router for my res line so I am not able to see how that is doing
j0hn:
Yes the line has been banded.
It needs a DLM reset, an ISP switch, or lots of patience.
Ixel:
Indeed, unfortunately the line has been banded presumably due to one or more of the following:
- Multiple resyncs in a short timeframe
- MTBR red threshold has been exceeded
- SNRM variance exceeded a certain threshold within a 24 hour timeframe (I believe this to be 4 dB) *
* I've noticed banding happens, without interleaving, when this occurs. The patent for the ADSLx DLM mentioned an SNRM variance threshold and in that document it was 4 dB. I believe this to be the case for VDSL2/FTTC as well.
I believe TalkTalk Business are part of the remote DLM reset trial, I'm not sure about TalkTalk Retail though.
David56:
Hi
Thanks for the info
I would imagine getting TT business to understand what a DLM reset is will be a nightmare so wait or change ISP I guess

AAISP have done a DLM reset for me previously via TTB, but as I understand TTB are slow to act or respond to such requests. A while ago they weren't part of the trial so couldn't do it at all.
