Frustrated by World Cup programming
« on: June 16, 2018, 05:06:49 PM »

I am totally fed up with the World Cup taking over terrestrial TV schedules, we now have about 3 weeks of total shambolic TV scheduling with only repeats on other channels when footie is on. We dont all want to watch football!

Anyone else as frustrated by it all?

Couldn’t agree more, I detest football.

I also enjoy a quiet pint in the pub once in a while.   Not to be taken for granted the next week, or month, or whatever it is, with big screen sports TVs noisily dominating the ambience in pretty much every pub.  :(

At least when a pub has Wimbledon on, it tends be be quiet and peaceful background noise, with gentle commentary.

For some reasons, football commentators always seem to feel they have to be shouting.   That, and the boisterous cheering of other customers does make it a lot more unpleasant for those who are not interested.

and one other thing I've discovered tonight, on BBC it is on BOTH BBC1 and the RED BUTTON with different audio. Why on God's earth do they need to do this - it is simply beyond belief.

I do not watch TV on the box any more, just Netflix and Amazon and whatever I can get over the internet because I do not go downstairs any more. Also I cannot stand the moronic programming from the BBC and ITV with soap operas dominating every night’s viewing, two of which my wife watches religiously. And I absolutely refuse to watch any TV adverts.

But I am absolutely addicted to wimbledon, tennis and snooker are the only sports I am enthusiastic about, if snooker even counts as a sport. I do not get to see wimbledon any more though, even though I probably have the bandwidth now.
