OF,
It worked out that the US 5 gallonb Jerrycan that was strapped to the back of their jeeps held 4 imp gallons.

The actual conversion rate is :
1 US gallon = 0.83267384 Imperial gallons
So in round figures it is 6 of theirs to 5 of ours.
