downstream half of what it usually is
« on: June 14, 2018, 06:12:37 PM »

can you guys take a quick look at my dslstats?
i'm currently only getting around 50% of what i normally achieve downstream.
average speedtest downstream i'm only getting 35-40Mbps, usually in the mid 70s.
my upstream is still normal at around 18Mbps

Sure others more knowledgeable will have useful input, but yikes thats a lot of upstream errors!

I guess you are not going into the DLMs red zone for it to take action with 400-500 ES a day.. but still.

possible you tried it when i was rebooting and re-connecting.
it's working fine when i just checked it.

i rebooted the modem and if anything it's got worse. now lucky to get mid 20Mbps downstream

Strange, you're synced at 80/20. What backhaul / ISP are you with?

yep indeed, always sync at 80/20, usual actual downstream is no less than 70Mbps (usually 76-ish).

on last speed test i got 19Mbps down and 18Mbps up
it's Plusnet (the ISP with the worst CS in the world).

No idea if I'm looking at the wrong graphs but your sync hasn't changed.

There's nothing that can be seen from DslStats, your problem isn't on the xDSL layer.

If you run a separate modem and router then the issue lies with the router or the ISP.

yes i know the sync hasn't changed.
well actually it has, before reboot it as 79999 and now it's 80000
and yes i do run separate modem and router, but i am suspecting it's a plusnet issue.

i just wanted to be sure there was nothing obvious showing the dslstats that would point to something specific.

Crazy that you have that sync then those speed tests.

Does it change with time of day?

not really no.
usually i have a rock solid connection and will always get 8.2/8.3 MB/s down from usenet.
i knew something was wrong when i noticed i was only getting 3MB/s max today.

8.2/8.3 MB/s down from usenet.

Oh how I envy you. Would give an appendage for that.

Thats about what I get anyway!

So that speed with that sync is probably cause for calling plusnet (harhar), or posting in the forums.

Have you rebooted all relevant devices? Not changed anything that could affect it on your router (wrong settings in QoS could) etc?
