adsl checker showing 1000/220 available for FTTP
« on: May 18, 2018, 08:01:28 PM »

Very surprised to see our FTTP line is now showing as capable of up to 1000 down and 220 up on the BT wholesale checker.

Does that mean BT retail are preparing behind the scenes for services beyond ultrafast 2...?

With each OLT serving up to 32 properties, does this mean in future when customers actually start using this stuff, more fibre will be required in the ground, or will the GPON by then be capable of more than 2.5Gbit/s for its up to 32 users?

It doesn't mean BT are going to offer it, just that BTWholesale are showing it available.
I don't know of a single ISP offering anything above 330 at the moment (excluding Spectrum in Wales, but they have their own backhaul).

edit: removed incorrect info, thanks to ignitionnet.

OpenReach FTTP Pricing

Up to 500Mbit/s /165Mbit/s
Install exc VAT £500.00
Annual rental exc VAT £660.00

Up to 1000Mbit/s /220Mbit/s
Install exchange VAT £500.00
Annual rental exchange VAT £960.00

Can't see this being a BT Retail product in the near future.

Don't 500Mb and 1Gb use XGPON, hence the 500 quid install fee and it only being available on Huawei OLTs?
