FTTC Problem
«
on:

I have a problem that when my neighbor is away he unplugs his modem and my SNR graph becomes unstable. Any ideas why this should occur it has been O.K. until recently. We are on a copper connection about 800 metres from the cabinet FEC and crc errors rise dramatically as well.
Thanks for reading.

I suggest the neighbour is creating a massive SWR by disconnecting and there is( due to some change in routing ? ) sufficient coupling from the anti-node on his 800m of cable to couple interference into your line. Try persuading him to replace the modem with a 600 ohm load ?

Thank you for replying, I look after our neighbors house when he is away so I don't think he would mind me doing that. Worth a try as he is away again from this Sunday for 6 weeks.
Much appreciated.
