Site changes
« on: April 27, 2018, 02:03:48 PM »

I'm making some changes to the site.   If things go a bit wonky for a while, please bear with me.
I'm anticipating that it may mostly impact the forum.

Getting there slowly,
Main site is mostly ok save for a few of images which I'm aware of.
Forum configs all updated along with an image proxy  - couple of very minor things which will be sorted.

...but I appear to have killed the wiki which shouldn't yet be https  -   (That is a job for another day due to sorting mediawiki software configs.)

My hosts are hopefully going to fix this, but it may mean the site is unavailable for a short period of time.

However have in mind that we might cause some redirection loops during the tests and the sites might be unavailable for a short period of time.

....  and we're green for the main site and forum :)

Just waiting for my hosts to try sort out what's happened to the wiki.

wiki is now partially working.

I've decided that rather than mess with various subdomains, some being http and some https, that I'd start updating the wiki too earlier than planned.
So although it is working, there are still some things I need to do before it goes green, but I'm afraid my hands are just too swollen and sore to do anything else now.  :(   The whole exercise was meant to be a pointy-clicky-settings thing rather than the lots of keyboard typing that I unexpectedly ended up having to do today.

Well done in getting https working  (though as an aside, the Safari browser on iOS shows a black padlock not a green one, indicating a DV certificate rather than a EV one)

Thank you

Don't hold your breath.  :)   The latter is not going to happen.
- Cost.   Both Financial and personal exposure risk to me.   I'd kill the site before doing that, there comes a point when a person can only do so much
- EV is used by banks etc.   Its overkill for forum logins.  We don't even undertake any financial transactions.

Kitz, you have already done more than a lot of people would have. Thank you.

EV certs cost a fortune and you _have to_ be a big organisation to even be eligible.
