Well, an order has gone in with AAISP for a New Copper Pair and FTTC provide. I'll have this installed in a different place than the current master socket, which will be a much shorter run than my current line.
It'll be interesting to see if I get a better performance from them as opposed to BT Infinity. (obviously the local loop and copper to the cab will still be the same). I'll plumb it straight into my 3rd NIC on my Pfsense box and have a play around with the load balancing features.
I thought my BT contract was up next year, but in fact it's up in October....so that's why I've decided to do this now, get myself accustomed with AAISP sort out VOIP and then run down the BT contract.
Just a query I'm not sure on - is it just 1 pair which is carried across on the overhead cable to a premises, or do the overheads contain 'more than one pair' which can be connected up at a later date to supply an additional line? Or will they need to run an entirely new overhead to my property?
