Upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5 without losing settings
« on: April 16, 2018, 05:09:41 PM »

Hi Guys,

My 6.1 DSL stats is running in folder
C:\Users\Admin2\AppData\Local\dslstats

I would like to upgrade to 6.5 and have downloaded the ZIP.

I'd like to retain the settings for the Recording/Login/etc to the HG612
I've looked through the forum, the installation text file, but I can't see how to do a basic upgrade. (apologies if its obvious).

Any tips?

Regards

Mark

I just unzip new files to same folder, making sure to not overwrite the ini file.

Certainly on a RPi environment have never had any issues with loss of current configuration when installing program revisions as the "dslstats.ini" file is stored in a different location from the program files, can't advise exactly where in your environment but as Chrysalis has advised as long as the ini file is preserved you should not have any problems.

On my system I chose the option to store it in the same folder as the program so I have a portable installation, there is also an option to store it in the user profile folder somewhere, I Cannot remember which option is the default.

The default is to store it in the OS-advised location, which on a Win8.1 system is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\dslstats\
