Passing over soon
« on: April 10, 2018, 07:36:17 AM »

No: I've not booked a flight to Switzerland to "die with dignity". Dignity would be very out of character. ;D

Rather, at last, I'm going FTTC, supposedly on 23 April delayed from 16th. There's no nail biting on that! The symptoms of onychophagia I'm currently suffering are because we have both an ECI and a Huawei cab. :-\ :D

[Moderator edited to change £CI to ECI.]

As long as the Huawei is live you should end up on that, it will be interesting to find out which one you end up on  though :fingers:

It's been there since October '16 so I hope it is, as CodeLook also says expanded Jan '17.

I too use Google as my dictionary of choice.

Rather, at last, I'm going FTTC, supposedly on 23 April delayed from 16th.

The inevitable questions . . .

With which ISP/CP? What CPE (if any) will the ISP/CP provide? Which underlying Openreach product? (18/2, 40/2, 40/10, 55/10 or 80/20 Mbps DS/US?)

Plusnet; 40/10; Plusnet Hub One, but opted out of, as I believe it's not great though  dual band., and i have the Billion 8800NL

I would, by instinct, decline any ISP/CP provided equipment. The Plusnet Hub One is just a re-badged BT Home Hub, so it's nothing special.

As for using the Billion 8800NL it is important to remember to configure a VLAN, tagged as 101. Otherwise it is quite straightforward to set up for a FTTC service (so I'm told).

0o00 welcome to the dark side  :)

Whilst I can understand the nail-biting for ECI v Huawei at the end of the day, the speeds should still be better than ADSL.  What connection speed do Openreach anticipate for your line?

Code: [Select]
                      High Low High  Low
VDSL Range A (Clean) 40 27.4 7.8 5.3 22.4
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 30.1 16.5 7.2 3.6 13.1

So taking the "High"s from the "(Clean)" and the "Low"s from the "(Impacted)" we see ranges from 16.5 to 40 Mbps DS and from 3.6 to 7.8 Mbps US.
