Huawei MT992 Modem for G.Fast (ITU-T G.9700/9701)
burakkucat:
I have made my first sighting of a Huawei MT992 Modem (for a G.9700/9701 service) available on eBay. It has a "Buy it now" price of £400! :o
I wonder how long it will be before the installed software is fully analysed and modified to unlock its GUI?
skyeci:
£400 lol.. hope its gold plated internally for that
kitz:
Ouch at that price! :o
I'd rather get an Asus DSL-AC88U which is supposed to contain a BCM chip. Still not cheap at ~£200 but the first VDSL2 combined modems where >£200. Hopefully the prices of combined units will drop when other manufacturers start making G.fast modem/routers to the general public.
Wouldn't be surprised if the seller has actually bought a DSL-AC88U and why he is selling the MT992.

When I saw the listing, I thought that the seller had probably been given a BT SmartHub X and been left the MT992 when their line was installed.
Regardless, if I could get g.fast etc., I wouldn't want to use any unapproved kit like an Asus on the line atm - the technology is just too new imho.

I wondered if the seller had access to goods being dispatched out from Magna Park, to be issued as van stock to Openreach technicians. :-X
