https://fiber.salt.ch/en/offer-en/

10 Gbit/s (10’000 Mbit/s) maximum download speed
10 Gbit/s (10’000 Mbit/s) maximum upload speed
Fiber box and accessories included: Router, Wi-Fi (WLAN) 4X4 MIMO, 10 Gbit/s Ethernet port, USB 3.0, DECT base and Media server.

This is using Swisscom, the incumbent's, network.

Imagine the whining to the ASA and Ofcom when people can't hit 10Gb, or 9.4Gb as would be required by our inane regulation, 24x7.

Wow  :o

I couldnt see anything on the site which indicated broadband coverage though.  Another site says they intend to cover 30 cities.

This has just launched in Switzerland and their website suggests that coverage is in the following cities but now how widespread it is.

Quote
Salt Fiber availability map currently includes the biggest cities in Switzerland. Some of the cities that have Salt Fiber availability:
Lausanne , VD
Bern, BE
Zurich, ZH
Basel, BS
Geneva, GE
Lucerne, LU
St. Gallen , SG
Lugano, TI
Winterthur, ZH
Montreux, VD
Biel/Bienne, BE
Thun, BE
Chur, GR
Bellinzona, TI
Olten , SO
Interlaken, BE
Yverdone-les-Bains, VD
Sion, VS
Aarau, AG
Fribourg , FR

There is a map on page 1 here

Salt is one of the big 3 mobile operators in the country and was formerly Orange before being sold in 2012.

They issued 7 different press releases on the 20 March  which will no doubt contain useful info. They seem to be using Swiss Fibre Net AG (not SwissCom) for much of their ISP network - who have an interesting business model though I am not sure how practical it would be in the UK

In a number of cases, an increasing number of cases, indeed it is. A 10Gb residential service at this pricing seemed newsworthy even if it's in another country :)

Appreciate we, in the UK, are still super-excited over FTTC that might sync at 1/30th that data rate and FTTN that, in some areas, manages 1/25th but it's good to see what our peers are doing.

Holy crap. And here, we get quoted tens of thousands of pounds for a 300 meg FTTPoD connection

. . . we get quoted . . .

You now have a quote? Or are you actually referring to an estimate? There is a very significant difference between the two items.

Ah, I was wondering if anyone has actually committed to spending some money to obtain a quotation . . .

Basically anyone who asks for an estimate seems to get the standard £39,000 response.

All I want is a connection that is stable and syncs at full speed.

If my FTTC connection synced at 80Mb I'd be happy!  :D

I was thinking about this the other week and if g.fast was here, would I get it.    On reflection I don't think I can justify the additional expense... and that's aside from the fact I'm probably too far from the cab for it to be viable anyhow.
