That is what I have done by setting up Web Forwarding at the domain Registrar direct to that link which is the quickest and easiest way to do it. But the change takes a while to filter through the DNS system, maybe 24 hours to fully complete (and hopefully work)  :)

Thanks for the further comments and donations.

Dear Tony,
Thank you so much for the time and dedication that you gave to us all through MDWS.
Between Kitz site and forum, DSLstats and yourself you not only educated me in adsl/vdsl technology but
also gave me practical advice and information that has more than doubled my vdsl connection speed.
Bless you sir; enjoy a well earned rest!

Tony, it doesn't look as if what you have done is going to work.

I've checked that my ISPs DNS is giving the same as ns.123-reg.co.uk. (212.67.202.2) which is 94.136.40.82. That IP is redirects.123-reg.co.uk.

I'd have left the DNS pointing where it is a just put a simple html page:

Code: [Select]
<html>
    <head>
        <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;url=http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,21151.0.html/" />
    </head>
    <body>
        <h1>Redirecting in 3 seconds...</h1>
        <p>MyDSLWebStats has now closed - please see <a href="http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,21151.0.html">http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,21151.0.html</a> for more information</p>
    </body>
</html>

Hi

@jelv I hope you donít mind, but redirect of domain name requires domain name to work

I think you just tried accessing website through IP address, which will default to a holding page for that IP address

You could try clearing your dns cache and web browser cache, then ping the domain to make sure it resolves to new IP address and then browse to it

I could be wrong sorry

Many thanks

http://mydslwebstats.co.uk/ has started working now - before it was just sitting for ages on a blank page before failing (I'm well aware that with multiple hosted sites on the same IP you can't access sites by IP!).

Thanks Ronski and d2d4j for clearing that up, The database I guess would have personal info mixed into it for each user, and I could not agree for my user data to be copied or placed onto someone else's server without my permission.
just the code not existing data, users would need to reregister

Only just set dslstats to stop uploading so sorry if my requests were flooding the server, I have been sidetracked this past month or two.

Has any clever member created an alternative setup for us to upload our stats to?

Nope.
No such project is actively being worked on to the best of my knowledge.

There are some people quietly working on it, but nothing is in concrete yet. There are some other projects adding capabilities to the DSLstats webserver, see:

Today, I was upgrading dslstats on my laptop; 5.9 to 6.5.

I glanced at the MDWS tab and was pleased to see my creds populated. After the upgrade, I noticed the tab was gone. Several seconds elapse as I frantically searched for it... to no avail :P

I can't believe this has shut down tbh. What a huge loss to the xDSL community! It goes without saying, I hope, thank you for looking after it for so long.

Has anyone offered to re-host? Ignoring GDPR for a second, it should be trivial for someone to do? I'll do it if no one else is able to.

Diagnostically, the information/service is too useful to lose, surely? There's likely to be many people out there locked into poor service, MDWS and the strength of the community behind it might be all they have?

GDPR. There's already talk of whitelists for GP surgeries so we're probably a hop skip jump from a full blown farce on that front. Plus, it's designed to stop corporations from taking the pee, not a community trying to help each other out.

Either way, I don't anticipate GDPR to be an issue for me.

Where do we go from here? :)

It closed in March and you've only noticed now in May? When did you last access MDWS?

Dunno! Set-and-forgot it on an RPI :)

I always hoped my data was contributing to easing the diagnostic process for someone, somewhere, though.

Wonder if AAISP might be interested in weighing in, I'm sure they would find the data useful as if nothing else it gives a view from the other end of the line as it were.

 :hmm:  Hmm . . . I can see both positives and negatives to that suggestion.
