Ixel - looking at a photo of an NTE5c I see what you mean, the overhang is very tight against the top of the test socket.
Best scrap that idea.  :no:

My next suggestion would be to chop one end from a standard modem lead and fit a BT431A to it. The plugs usually come with the fitting tool - you just squeeze them up in a small vice.

You're welcome :). The only other option is an RJ11 to BT LJU cable, but these cables are typically unshielded and flat so are cheaply designed in my opinion. I managed to find a shielded by somewhat lengthy RJ11 to BT LJU cable buried amongst my spare stuff which I'm currently using in my server cabinet to the test socket which I bought from somewhere a long time ago but I've never seen anything like it for a long time no matter where I look. Prior to that AAISP kindly sent me a RJ11 to BT LJU cable free of charge (along with some stickers, one of which is proudly stuck to the front of the server cabinet :P).
