BT Wholesale checker FTTC oddities...
« on: December 29, 2017, 08:46:17 PM »

Hi all,

I'm hopefully (with any luck) moving house soon.  Obviously a mandatory factor in the move was FTTC, and I've checked the address in the checker and hurrah the full 80Mb is available, however the cabinet is full and has a waiting list.

An oddity though is I looked up the neighbour's phone numbers (I know who lives there) and checked them, and a few of them show no waiting list and fibre as 'Available', where as checking with the address shows 'Waiting List'.  Both types of check show the same cabinet number etc.

How can this be?  Has anyone seen checker behaviour like this before?

If you are checking a number that is already connected to FTTC it will show as available even if the cabinet is full. It already has a connection in place.

Use the Address link on the checker

Interesting, so any BT customer wishing to change provider wouldn't be aware of the possibility of losing their slot by using the checker unless they used the address rather than number link.

The losing of your slot no longer happens as any order would fail due to no capacity at the cabinet.
