Thank You PlusNet
« on: December 28, 2017, 07:45:38 AM »

Recently (two weeks ago) switched from BT to PlusNet and yesterday I've had a speed boost to the following. SNR seems to have dropped so I assume this is why? I'm on an ECI cab BTW. Hope it stays like this lol.

with no g.inp I can only assume your modem has resynced faster than your neighbours and or power cut or some cross talkers are off line (power outage somewhere??)

Looking at stats (suggest you wait to see if anyone else agrees) your downstream db is only 3.8db that would more than likely account for most of the extra download speed so probably a crosstalker was not active when it resynced.

Although you have had an increase in power which may have opened up a few more bits across the frequencies and that would account for some of the increase especially  in the upstream.

Unfortunately my gut feeling is this extra speed may disappear just as randomly as it appeared.  This change would have happened regardless of ISP it is just the cabinet matching sync with the current conditions of the line.

Thanks for the feedback. I also think that on BT I was banded somehow (as the 1200 up never ever changed) and that has obviously now been removed.

If your current max attainable rate is now less than your current speed, that would confirm that you just happened to connect when there was less noise present than there is now.

Well the increased speed seems to be holding and the SNR is still at 3.6 but I thought this was meant to be 6.0? Also errors seems ok. So still happy lol.

I know some users are a bit against the 3db target speed target and say it shouldn't be implemented on ECI but from my experience of my line on an ECI cabinet it can hold on for many days, weeks if not months at less than 6db.

I have had it holding on at 1.5db in the past for several weeks.  At least you know if they ever do 3db targets on ECI cabs your line would probably benefit.

There is a good chance if Ginp and 3db ever made it to ECI your line would probably manage 70Mb.

Cross your fingers that BT continue the trial with eci ginp and look out for users with mdws posting it has been (re)enabled on their lines.
