I run a Billion 8800nl in modem mode (bridged) with a OPNsense firewall handling all my LAN IPv4 & IPv6 address allocations
Recently (Christmas gave me time to look) I noticed a lot of messages like this one in my logs
radvd[3150]: our AdvLinkMTU on igb1 doesn't agree with fe80::6203:47ff:fe16:19b0
After a bit of head scratching it turned out that the billion was running a radvd process despite there being no requirement for it to do any ip allocations. Telenting into the Billion and killing the ravdvd process removed an new errors in the log so I knew this was the reason. My first thought was I'd screwed up a setting on the Billion so after checking and finding nothing obvious I did a factory reset and reconfigured the modem in bridge mode as described in a number of post on this forum.
Turns out that after a reboot the the radvd process was back on the modem. Again i have no IP LAN dhcp server set up on the Billion. So I downgraded to firmware to 2.32d.dh14 after checking with another who was using this version and not having problems. I can only surmise the Billion firmware 2.32e has a bug and as there is no newer firmware 2.32d.dh14 is the best option. The DLS drivers are identical and as I'm only using it as a modem I'm ok.
As a side issue since removing this rogue radvd process from the Billion apinger is no longer throwing a wobble on a daily basis.
