Basically been installed for about a month spent the first week messing about with my line router etc.  I managed to get high interleaving and a low sync speed as a result.  During the past 2 weeks I have left the line alone except for the odd 30 minute reboot but it shows no improvement in interleaving status sync speed etc.

I am on an ECI cab so I have manually throttled the connection to 60mb / 20mb to hopefully get speeds up.  I attach the line stats below hopefully someone can interpret them for me and let me know what my line is doing / comment on the quality of the line?

I can't see anything of significance in that snapshot of the statistics you have posted. However others may do so.

Which modem/router are you using?

What would be useful is if you could set up a monitoring system (a Raspberry Pi, for example) and then upload the data to MDWS.

With the sight of live, on-going, statistics our members with analytical minds should then be able to give you a technical description of your circuit's performance.

TBH I was restarting the line a lot during the first week so it is possible.  During the past 2 weeks I think I've only restarted a few times 2/3 for 30 mins plus.  I haven't been messing about with it at all.  I manually applied 60/20 to try and get DLM to do something?

MDWS setup as per advice as jmacp.

No expert at this i would wait for a more seasoned reply but my comments below.

With you being around SNR 6db  your manual speed limit is probably not enough to force the DLM to do anything.  You are limiting to 60Mbs but your best speed is around 60Mbs.

For your attenuation 14.7db 60Mb is probably a bit below average.  As ECI cab have no Ginp or 3db technologies it is certainly not bad though.

When you resync do you connect at a different speed each time?  If you always connect at 59993 you are banded at this maximum speed.  If your line conditions ever got better removing this banding is difficult (VERY difficult).

A different modem may be better suited to your line.  IIRC for my line (an ECI cab and slightly worse attenuation) a Zyxel 8324 had many less errors than a HG612 but the ECI modem had better sync speeds.  I did post a comparison a bit ago.  Every line is different though so no guarrentees but there are certainly better chipsets than what's in the Hg612 now.

The All User Stats on MDWS is great to compare your line with others.  Sort by DSLAM and Attn and see how you compare.

I agree regarding the SNRM, DLM is unlikely to do anything (improvements if you're banded) unless it's much higher. HG612's certainly have been known to produce intermittent blips of packet loss on lines connected to ECI DSLAM's, so I would only recommend using HG612's with ECI DSLAM's as a method to get detailed statistics about your connection.

I would recommend swapping to either a DrayTek Vigor (I use the 2860 currently on 'vector4' firmware which has a newer modem firmware) or an ECI /r modem, both of which have the same chipset vendor as the ECI DSLAM. The former however will give you some statistics about your line, where the latter won't really (easily) unless it happens on be on LEDE firmware. In my experience, for my own connection (which is strange), the DrayTek performs the best in terms of stability. Slightly less attainable speed but I believe that's due to the fact the HG612 doesn't appear to use reed solomon coding 'R' on the downstream when on fastpath where the DrayTek does (and probably any other modem using an Infineon/Lantiq chipset). The unlocked ECI /r with LEDE firmware showed the same instability as the HG612, as did a Zyxel when I tried that too, so unless your line is good/reasonable then I don't feel I can recommend devices with a Broadcom chipset. An ECI /r on the standard locked or unlocked non-LEDE firmware should be fine though. You can also adjust the downstream SNRM target offset between -5 to +5 dB on the DrayTek, which is nice if you want to try and squeeze more speed or have more stability on your connection.

Your attainable rates may well be a little lower than average as previous reply stated. For comparison, my downstream attenuation is 16 dB and I'm getting an attainable rate of 82117 downstream (probably nearer to around 90000 if I didn't have reed solomon coding 'R', and yes I am on fastpath) and 24090 upstream last I checked. I'm curious to know what your DSLAM's (line card actually) firmware version is, generally I believe most ECI connections are on 0xb206 but there are some which are on 0xd086 like me. You can fetch this with 'xdslcmd info --vendor' (without quotes) if connected to the modem via telnet, or alternatively on DSLstats on one of the tabs (Stats?) though I can't remember the exact name of the tab.

+1 recommend you get a Vigor. I used a bunch of BDCM based modem/routers and frequently got interleaved. Since getting a Vigor 130 I have always been on FastPath, and see less than 30 ES per day!

INP 3.5 isnt Interleave High.  4.5 is High.
Delay is only 8ms so your DLM profile is probably Interleaving Low.

Last time I was interleaved it took DLM a couple of weeks to remove it.


Because the line is currently interleaved the max attianable show by your router is vastly over inflated.
Your SNRm is 7.7, so based on a target SNRM of 6.3dB, your max attainable is more like 66/67/68 Mbps if the line wasn't interleaved.

Re the BCM -v- Lantiq chipset debate.   I'm on an ECI cab and the BCM chips have always performed much better on my line.

With regards to the comments about the HG612 paired with an ECI cabinet, I couldn't disagree more.
The HG612 3B performed better on my ECI line than 3 different Lantiq chipsets I tried. Only newer Broadcom chipsets have outperformed the HG612 (both ZyXELs).

I think a couple members may have read your snrm back to front. It's 7.7dB, not 6dB, so a nice capped margin.

You appear to have low interleaving. It's usually a minimum of 10-11 days till DLM removes this.
Your ES numbers are very low.
Your FEC numbers average out low enough for interleaving to drop.

I would leave everything as is. Give it a week or 2 and the line should revert to fastpath. Failing that increase your cap to 55Mb.

Manual resyncs will never trigger DLM to relent, only to apply harsher interleaving/banding. Completely leave the line as is and it will relent on no time.

I waited 5 weeks for dlm to remove interleaving and delay. it did not even though error free. I capped my sync to 54mb, 8 days it was gone. I then powered the modem on/off and my sync return to my normal value. if dlm does not let go then cap your sync till it does..
