SNR drops over the course of a few days
« on: December 23, 2017, 05:43:41 PM »

Hi, my SNR drops over time, but the weird thing is, when i reboot the modem, it goes back to normal, no matter what time of the day.. It won't go back up unless i reboot either. Even if mr SNR drops to 0.3 (which was just the case), i reboot and the SNR margin goes back to 6.2 for instance.
This is causing a lot of problems, because when my SNR drops, the internet becomes sluggish.
Does anyone know what i can do ? Could it be a router problem ?

Yes, it could possibly be a problem with the modem/router. What is its make/model?

Indeed. One of the other things that occurs to me is if bitswap is turned on?

Likewise! I was holding on to that thought . . . until the device in question had been disclosed.

I have similar issue with my upstream SNR margin. My upstream SNR margin continously drop (about 1 dB over month). But when I reconnect my upstream SNR margin goes back to standard value with similar synchronization rate.

Second hand zyxel vmg1312-b10a. I've tried different cables and faceplates, not much of a difference

Because Target SNRM is ~6.3dB a resync should always recover your SNRM to this level*
Does your sync speed deteriorate after a resync or does it always stay at about the same level?

aye, the Sync stays the same. 60meg with a 72meg attainable, with that linearly dropping with a perfect ramp down over the course of a week, until i reboot again.

I just plugged in the old Openreach modem and i'll see how it goes. Unfortunately i won't be able to monitor it will i? It feels a bit snappier and i can use the internet while downloading a file now, which i was unable to do before
