Free bt broadband unlimited forever
« on: November 25, 2017, 10:08:26 AM »

Hi

I hope you don’t mind, but I received a letter from bt stating I was chosen for free unlimited, FTtc broadband forever, no cancellation fees, no activation fee, for ever on a bt line I have

Do you think it is genuine

No speed was quoted

Many thanks

John

The word "forever" means it couldn't possibly be legit. Why would they, it makes no sense. Forever is a long time, it couple end up being very expensive for them.
If it's some kind of crazy marketing, such wording would never get past the BT lawyers.

So if it's worded as you say, I'd eat Paddy Ashdowns hat if it was real.

Assuming it's a scam, it would be interesting to see how they intend to make money out of it. Or it could just be someone's idea of a joke.

Hi

Thank you @dray and @john

Apologies John, after checking again, eye sight not what was, it does not state forever sorry

Also, it is a bt Black Friday offer, which when checking on bt website, it does not charge for broadband but lowest cost is 29.99 including line rental. So it’s not a fair offer as cost would increase from current line rental

Sorry to have bothered you all

Many thanks

John

Seems a pretty shameful way of attracting custom. If it was an advertisement it certainly could not be considered truthful.

Having said that 29.99 is a lot less than my current discounted price.

TalkTalk did a 'free broadband forever' deal when they first entered into the broadband marketplace.
Its how they got so many new customers at a time when we were used to paying separate billing for phone and broadband.  I doubt many will still be on at original offer though as those accounts where never upgraded from 512k speeds.  iirc Sky also did something similar several years ago but restricted it to a very low usage cap that many soon went over so had to upgrade anyhow.   There is usually a catch somewhere.

yeah Sky's was free ADSL2+ but only 2GB usage (if you had Sky TV & Phone Line), they would fire out emails all the time suggesting upgrades (my sister was on it)
