If you don't set the option "Keep trigger levels at the values set here", you shouldn't get repeated alerts unless  a new sample exceeds the original trigger by a greater amount.

By the way, I can't do much more today because I'm in the middle of reinstalling everything because of a corrupted hard disk.

Completely understand.

The problem with un-setting that is that I only see when it gets worse. In my case right now it is up and down like the proverbial lady of the nights attire  ;) so I like to see how it fluctuates which is only possible with that set currently, but I do see an awful lot of duplicate messages where it does not change which is why currently I dont email them to myself, if they only happen when the value changes (up or down) and below my threshold then emailing would be OK but right now I'd see an email every minute. Maybe something you might consider in the future.

Anyway right now I'll live with the duplicates and leave email off.

Hi,

While this is minor for many, it's a small update regarding getting DSLStats to log and remain stable (no random error popups) with the ZyXel C1100Z modem (CenturyLink).
... etc

I'm sorry for failing to reply to this earlier. Unfortunately I know nothing about this modem, and I don't have the resources or available time to investigate the problem. I'm very sorry.

Hi,

I have using 6.1 without any issue till now with the email alert.

Yesterday I noticed that when my broadband reconnected I didn't get any alerts as to this and on investigating I could an error message saying "Email alert failed (invalid "From" address)", however nothing has changed on the installation of dslstats.

On checking further I noticed an alert on gmail saying that it had blocked a logon which i suspect was from dslstats,  I updated gmail to say it was from me.  I tried some test emails but still the same error message on dslstats but no more alerts on gmail.

I tried updating the settings from port 587 unencrypted to 587 and starttls but still the same error message.

Am using a raspberry pi for dslstats, which I do once a week run the apt update/upgrade.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

For GMail, port 587 with starttls is what I use, and it continues to work, but I haven't checked it recently on a RPi. I'll do that as soon as I can. Do you have the package libssl-dev installed on the RPi? This is necessary for TLS emails to work.

Further to the above, I've fired up my RPi and fully upgraded it. Email alerts using GMail do work here. My setup is as shown below. If your setup is the same then one possibility occurs:

I'm using an oldish Raspbian setup based on Debian Jessie. If you have a newer one based on Debian Stretch, it's possible that this behaves differently.

Hi Roseway,

Firstly apologies for the delay in replying.

I checked the setting and they appear to be correct, the issues seems to be that all of a sudden the GMAIL decided it didnt trust the login being made via DSLStats as you can see from the screenshot and this is showing the location Hebden Bridge whereas am outside Edinburgh.

I acknowledged the alert saying it was me logging on and now the alerts are being sent,  the message being received on DSLstats refers to an invalid from address so am assuming that is how the mail program is translating the response from GMAIL.

Its a Raspberry Pi3 running the current Raspian and is updated weekly.

Cheers

GMail tries to be too clever sometimes. Do I understand correctly that, although you are still seeing the error messages in the DSLstats log, the email alerts are still being sent?

I've never been able to use my gmail account on DslStats without enabling the option on Gmail to allow less secure 3rd party apps.
Turning this option on fixes the problem instantly.

@roseway

Correct thread I hope...

Back to the question of clipping on the graphs, where can I change the graph/axis settings?

The settings are on the panel under each graph.

On the Graphs configuration page, set the time per page to 24 hours.
