Well done Eric the discovery phase values cures this odd issue had to wait until the modem retrained @ 40000 kbps to make sure, Colours are now correct in Bitloading green & red throughout the bands.

Thank you for that. I didn't have an opportunity to test it myself.

@roseway
I've got little improvement suggestion for the next DSLstats version...
Could you implement a hex convertion for the reported DSLAM/MSAN type: ?
In my case it's reporting BDCM:0xb18c / v0xb18c, which is should be 177.140.
(b1=177, 8c=140)
Code: [Select]
xdslctl info --vendor
ChipSet Vendor Id:      BDCM:0xb18c
ChipSet VersionNumber:  0xb18c
ChipSet SerialNumber:   eq_nr default oemid software_rev▒

Yes, I can certainly do that, but is it useful? It seems to me that vendor IDs are always quoted in hex format??

I would find it quite usefull...  ;)
Than i can just have a quick look at DSLstats to see if my ISP did a new firmware upgrade on my Linecard.
Afaik the normal output is always in hex format.

For example my old fritzbox does show the correct Linecard version in the GUI.

Hi,

While this is minor for many, it's a small update regarding getting DSLStats to log and remain stable (no random error popups) with the ZyXel C1100Z modem (CenturyLink).

The following is what I have set for most of the data returns...

Modem/router model: Zyxel C1000Z
IP address: 192.168.0.1
Telnet user: admin
Telnet pass: <customSetViaTheGUI>
Telnet port: 23
NOTE: This modem does support a basic SSH terminal, exactly the same as telnet, but not as "buffery"/slow on data return.

Shell Command: <none>
CLI Command prefix: xdslctl
NOTE: adsl can also be used on this modem.
Custom prefix: <none>

Attached what items to monitor looks like. Enabling the other check boxes makes DSLStats become error central.

Unfortunately, I cannot get QLN, Hlog, Bitloading and SNR to reliably work on DSLStats. The following commands do return data on the terminal/telnet session via putty, but causes errors on DSLStats...

> xdslctl info --SNR
> xdslctl info --QLN
> xdslctl info --Hlog
> xdslctl info --Hlin
> xdslctl info --HlinS
NOTE: Hlin and HlinS both return 0's or 0.000000e+00.
> xdslctl info --Bits

The above commands use to mostly work when the C1100Z was on ADSL2+ with the above set. I don't recall which items i had disabled back when. All of the above on VDSL2, profile 8a, go up to 4095 lines returned.

Eric a request please.... is it possible and reasonably straight forward to modify the alerts so that if the current alerted reading has not changed then no message is put out. I often find currently that my SNRM drops to say 3.6 but stays at that same level for several minutes but I see the same message every minute.

Or perhaps a minimum interval between alerts?

If the SNRM is varying around the alert level of say 4 and you did as broadstairs suggested:

09:30 4.1
09:31 3.9 - alert
09:32 3.9 - no alert as same as previous
09:33 4.1 - it would reset
09:34 3.9 - another alert sent
09:35 4.1 - resets
09:36 3.9 - another alert sent

That's three alerts in very few minutes for essentially the same issue - it's dropped to around the alert level.

A minimum interval setting of e.g. 10 minutes would be better.

I think I'd prefer it to do as I say rather than a minimum time between alerts, I'd rather see it changing even if only fractionally within my specified limits even if it means one alert per minute, however it it has not changed then no alert.

OK - then do both - you would set the minimum time between alerts as 0.

If you don't set the option "Keep trigger levels at the values set here", you shouldn't get repeated alerts unless  a new sample exceeds the original trigger by a greater amount.

By the way, I can't do much more today because I'm in the middle of reinstalling everything because of a corrupted hard disk.
