CRC errors corrected?

(1/1)

hake:
My router stats includes a count of CRC errors.  Is it normal that CRC errors would be corrected by a retransmit?  I could not imagine that the system would allow errors to pass uncorrected.

roseway:
Yes, CRC errors are a kind of checksum error and indicate that the data packet has been corrupted in transmission, so a retransmit is requested. If you've got interleaving enabled on your line, then most errors will be corrected by forward error correction (FEC) and don't require retransmission, but a few uncorrectable errors may remain, and do require retransmission.

kitz:
The main site also has a bit more  info about Error Correction and CRC errors

hake:
That's what I wanted to read.  Thanks for your trouble and interest in looking at my thread.
