Plusnet to Finally Move to the Openreach 40/10 Product
« on: October 27, 2017, 03:37:33 PM »

Plusnet is finally going to move from the 40/2 to 40/10 product.

New Plusnet Unlimited Fibre customers will start getting the faster upload speed from the point of sign-up, and we’ll also start to move our existing ‘up to 38Mbps’ customers to the faster upload speed from November.

Great news for PN customers,  and hopefully OR will do away with the 40/2 product so no isp can go back to it.

Good news.   TT also upgraded their accounts to 40/10 a few months ago.  :)

Not sure if they will be able to do away with the 40/2 just yet as theres a couple of lesser known ISPs that were still using it...  but if all the main players are now offering 40/10 and 55/10 then they may follow suit.

well now BT retail are on 55/10 (and for some 80/20) then they can upgrade plusnet customers whilst the premium infinity product is still higher spec.

I seem to recall Openreach have to give something like 3 years notice before they are allowed to withdraw a product..

Openreach have the 18/2 product as well and I wonder if changing from 40/2 is a sign that 18/2 might be more widely adopted.
