Help with replacing my Smarthub...
« on: September 22, 2017, 10:07:37 PM »

Hey everyone, I'm finding it hard to pinpoint which tutorial etc I need.

Currently I have:

(FTTC)- BT Smarthub - Multiple Powerline adapters

Waiting to be installed:

  • Model - Huawei EchoLife HG612 - Name: FTTC VDSL NTE - FW: V100R001C01B02SP8 (Labeled on the box)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Extreme (downstairs, next to the modem)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Express (downstairs)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Express (downstairs)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Express (in the conservatory)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Extreme (upstairs, connected to MacBook Air that only runs on battery for time machine etc)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Express (upstairs)
  • Latest Generation Apple AirPort Express (upstairs)

I will use ethernet (cat6) from modem to downstairs Extreme and same from downstairs Extreme to upstairs Extreme. Rest will be done using the power line units I have (AV1200).

Can someone hep with the setting up of the modem? I would like to be able to login to it to see line stats etc. Does it need unlocking?

Eventually most rooms of the house should be covered and a few of them able to connect to the optical output of the Express sure as the classic B&O units we have. The office upstairs will also be where I keep my iMac and printer along with my MacBook Air. Nearly all rooms will have some audio output which is great for a really old house!

Cheers

Hi

If you want to unlock your hg612 to get line stats then start here

It's a straight forward process.
