I'm just trying to set one of these up myself. I've unlocked it, upgraded firmware from 1.02 to 1.03 and I'm now trying to update the web gui to 3.32. I've put the gui file into /tmp, and ran the two commands as instructed. After the second command it has been sat at the following prompt for about 10 mins now:-

writing from \dev\mtd4 to \dev\mtd3...

How long should this take?
Thanks
It should reboot :)

Ah, right Ansuel. I had obviously missed the reboot and the ssh session had hung. Re-connected and logged in and everything ok.

Thank you.

Np if you want to know why the reboot... The script switched bank as the recovery mode flash only the first bank... You can update the gui for the newer version directly from the gui ;)

Looks like a high-quality VDSL cable is included. Anyone noticed a difference, using it?

I have another problem. Having successfully installed gui 3.32, I realised that telnet was not working and could not be enabled.
I decided to start again after a gui reset, and installed gui 2.23. This allowed me to enable telnet ok. On trying to update to gui 3.32, after copying the gui file to /tmp, when I issue the /etc/init.d/rootdevice force command I get the response "interface wan has no physdev or physdev has no suitable ip". This is true as I want to do this setup offline, but is there any way around this?

it's not a problem, just an info, which is true in your case, so don't worry about that...
Ansuel made a typo in the last GUI update, the file /etc/config/telnet was renamed tenlet or something like that...And i have now a problem with the "i" (info) led wich is now Red instead of green  >:( >:(
The gui 3.25 seems to have no "visible" bugs...

there are lots of improvements in the next GUI.
3.16 and 3.25 are Stable and have no particular bugs. i would recommend the 3.25 for the moment. The 3.9 is quite old now.

Does the GUI have a DNS option so you can give IP addresses a name? E.g. ping printer and printer would resolve to 192.168.1.8 without having to add lines to each PCs hosts file?  Can you add more than one name to the same IP address?

Is there any more information available on the VOIP functionality?  Can you specify incoming and outgoing digit maps?

Thanks

There is a way to do it from the GUI, in the Local Network tab :
You can choose the hosname you want but you can't create several hostnames with the same MAC/IP.

Look here : https://www.crc.id.au/hacking-the-technicolor-tg799vac-and-unlocking-features/ there is a section about how to configure a third party SIP provider.

@j0hn
you bought one ?  :)
Yep. It should arrive on the 9th.
Now available on Amazon.fr from the same seller, same price, much quicker delivery. I just bit.
Amazon.fr now have none left from that seller. Another seller (RC TECHSTORE) has 2 left at same price but I don't know which firmware the device is. The seller I used (Dck Group) confirmed version 1.03.
