As you have sort of hijacked my thread can I pick your brains about the VMG1312-B10D. What is the best firmware for this device? I have downloaded the firmware from Nov 2016 but there are other versions.

I am using the latest available firmware image with my VMG1312-B10D, which is V5.11(AAXA.4)C0 (as of the date of this post).

For documentation, firmware images, etc, I go to the ZyXEL Download Library and enter the full device name, VMG1312-B10D, into the search box.

Now if you are going to ask me about clearing the ROM-D image of the VMG1312-B10D, I will suggest that you perform a search specifying ROM-D as the search string and my name as the "by user" string. It should bring up a handful of my posts (including this one). Review them all and one will have all the relevant details.

No, not all of them. Each ISP can install their own "factory defaults" by installing their basic configuration into the ROM-D.

Just unlocked my HG612 in about 10 minutes following kitz guide on here and got stats over LAN 1 but sync not as good as my TP-Link W9970 (65½) the HG612 sync at 62.

Anyway cant wait for the Zyxel to turn up apparently will be sent Monday.

Could I ask Mr Banger what his goal is with his circuit you have tried the Billion R2 and TP-Link W9970 and now the HG612 ?

I am just testing modems to see which syncs highest with lowest errors. A little bit of trial and error without upsetting DLM too much. I quite like playing with modems and unlocking them. Hoping for reasonable sync from the Zyxel with low errors but we will see.
