Product Key.
« on: June 18, 2018, 04:03:44 PM »

My SIL has been given a very old Dell Latitude D610.
It had Win XP 32 Bit on it.
I have re-installed it to Win7 32 Bit.
Come to enter the product key I tried the one on the label on the laptop but said it was not valid  >:D so I ended up using my product key off the install disk (which is used on anther laptop of mine  ;) ).

I am not going to register it with my product key on it.

Does anyone know how I can use the product key that is on the laptop. ?

Good point.
This is a genuine Win7 upgrade disk for my Acer laptop but that was from Vista.

I would check the status of any key before installing http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-check-product-key-version-edition-in-windows/
as you might be locked out if Windows checks online for hardware check.
Windows 7 keys go for less then £5 these days, so it's worthwhile getting a key which has been "cleared" by ms for reuse.
