For arguments sake:-
If you click on the Games section (of which there is only one showing on the main menu)
Then it opens revealing sub boards, which is good and fine.

At the moment, if you look at the Vista part of the main menu, it is showing Vista and 2 other smaller Child boards, "Vista Tips and Vista Discussions" (So we actually have 3 entries)
If you now click on the main Vista link, it still shows the other two options. This is what I find confusing.

Surely by just removing the Child Board/s headings from the main index page only, could make it appear a little better/tidier.

Or is it me ?

>> I doubt that there is any other implementation of sub-dividing the board other than child boards(?)

Not that Im aware of :/

>> but I can see why the name is not liked much

Agreed sub categories makes more sense - but since the forum software calls it child boards there isnt anything I can do about that.

>> If you click on the Games section (of which there is only one showing on the main menu)

Its set up the same - the "Games" 3 child boards are also shown underneath.  Maybe its just the position and the fact its at the bottom of the page that doesnt make it as obvious?

>> Surely by just removing the Child Board/s headings from the main index page only,

Unless Ive missed something - There isnt any way of doing that Im afraid. :/

Now I see, because it, the Games section is the last on that particular list, so with the child board headings being immediately below they are not that noticeable (too me that is).
Whereas with Vista being in the middle of a section, they are more noticeable.

Case closed, now of to SpecSavers.  8)

Ok ... so to basically sum up

Do I take it that the general consensus (or at least for the Vista forum) that it goes back to how it was?

I've got used to it now and can see the benefit of it especially in time to come.
My only suggestion would be if it stays as is, is a slight name change from:

Child Boards: Vista Tips, Vista Discussion

To:
Child Boards: Vista Hints & Tips, Vista Problems & Discussions
